I hope this information can help many other people. I had everything on low, and that was not helping, so this is quite nice to finally discover. Maybe also experimenting with each cpu core on/off could further increase results, but this one thing alone has made me now able to play perhaps my favorite PC game ever again.īefore this I was getting teens to low 20s fps with literally only hundreds of units total on screen. Now that isn't perfect, but it's a huge improvement over what I was originally getting, which I will get at. This made the game a playable low 30 fps with thousands of units on screen on British grassland map. What you want to do is open the game, then go into task manager, click on details, find Rome, right click, go to set affinity and make sure it's only running on one cpu core. I however today found out on a recent Steam discussion for the game on how to improve the fps on modern computers that from specs alone you'd think wouldn't have any issues. ![]() The answers were basically set graphics to lowest and making sure the game was set to play off of gpu, which didn't do anything for me, as I had already tried them/were trying them. I don't know if this is known, but I asked a question many months ago about how to improve performance and didn't get any answers that worked for me. Think we missed one?
