Even the one contributor who knows all about this would take lots of back & forth with you over days to try to fix things with no guarantees. I definitely cannot help you to fix the partition table by manually adjusting those values. When you add other partitions, all those known points no longer apply which makes the process to fix things extremely difficult even when using an app which can detect old partitions. I have tried to restore damaged partitions on a Mac before by manually modifying the partition table start & end values, but they were only using standard default partitions with known starting points. Your main partition table was not damaged, you intentionally modified it. The spare table is for when the main table becomes damaged. I am aware of the spare partition table, but I'm not sure that will help you out here as I would expect the spare table to have been updated with the changes. I have only seen one contributor on these forums with the necessary knowledge to help you out, but I have not seen him post anything here in months. Your data is still there (or most of it anyway), but you must stop using this drive so you don't accidentally overwrite any of the missing data assuming you are using a hard drive as opposed to an SSD. * been stored on a drive before it was re-initialized/formatted.īut the longer you use the drive the less likely of any recovery, & if it's an SSD with TRIM enabled you can forget recovery. "Stellar Phoenix Macintosh - Mac data recovery software, recovers data from damaged, deleted, or corrupted volumes and even from initialized disks." I don't know what methods their app uses to locate deleted items, but I didn't hesitate to purchase the full version for something that works that fast. Since every recovery software I had ever used before took a minimum of 8 hours to look through a 1 TB drive, I figured that couldn't be right. I ran it and it said it was ready in less than 30 seconds (if it was even that long). It'll do three free recoveries before you have to pay for it. I haven't tried Stellar's product, so I can't comment on that one. That sent me on a search for something better. No way was I paying those prices for something I use less than once a year. Inquiries regarding purchase of our domain or software assets may be directed to Rescue is still available, but is now subscription only. SubRosaSoft has regretfully closed up shop. Thank you to all of our customers over the years. But it also suffers from the hours long process of examining a drive. My version of Data Rescue was too old to run in Monterey. FileSalvage ran, but the way it accesses the drive to look for deleted items is incredibly slow. I had to recently recover a file I deleted (about a month ago).
